Zombie Executives

Mark Long and Joanna Alexander are the founders and Co-CEO's of Zombie Studios.

Mark Long is Zombie's Co-CEO and Designer/Producer of more than 28 titles. Prior to founding Zombie, Long had a Research and Development career that spanned three laboratories: the Sarnoff Research Center, the University of Texas Institute for Advanced Technology, and General Dynamics' Combined Arms Systems Engineering Laboratory. Long has served on a number of technical advisory boards and government committees. He was a member of the Silicon Graphics Technical Advisory Board, advising SGI on requirements for their next-generation virtual reality systems. He collaborated with the National Science Foundation, the University of Washington Human Interface Laboratory and the University of Illinois to produce a summary report for the Congressional Task Force on Virtual Reality. Long was Co-Chair, with NASA and the Stanford Research Institute, of a conference on next-generation virtual reality research held at the Sarnoff Research Center. Long received his BS at the University of Texas, where he also received his commission in the US Army. He retired with the rank of Major and is the recipient of the Army's Meritorious Service Medal.



Joanna Alexander, Zombie's Co-CEO and COO. Alexander has a distinguished science and engineering research background combined with a successful entrepreneurial history. Alexander holds a BS in Mathematics from Yale University and an MSE from Princeton, where she studied applications of Fourier Transform infrared photoacoustic spectroscopy. She is the author of more than 20 technical papers and holds a U.S. Patent in the field of interactive scientific visualization. At the Sarnoff Research Center Alexander led virtual reality research in the Simulated Systems group, and received the Lab's Technical Achievement Award. In the mid-1990s she was Deputy Chair of a Department of Defense committee formed to advise government and military officials on issues relating to technology transfer and virtual reality. Prior to Sarnoff, Alexander conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg Germany. In 2000 Alexander founded and was President of CentralHQ.com - a family of internet portals targeting US armed forces: ArmyHQ, NavyHQ, AirForceHQ, and MarinesHQ. Alexander negotiated the sale of CentralHQ.com to Advanced Interactive Systems, Inc. Alexander was inducted into the Explorer's Club in 2002 - an international society dedicated to the advancement of field research and scientific exploration; whose members include Neil Armstrong, Teddy Roosevelt and Edmund Hillary.
